ALEX LEES
Durham
1,347 runs @ 70.89
Dropped from England’s Test side at the end of last summer, Lees responded by leading Durham’s charge towards Division One, bringing Bazball to the shires. Not only did he hit more runs than anyone else in the County Championship, Lees also struck his runs at over 70, five centuries part of his final tally.
LUIS REECE
Derbyshire
1,048 runs @ 87.33
Reece’s numbers are spectacular – but look a little closer and it’s the damage he caused one side in particular that stands out. In four innings against Glamorgan, the left-hander reeled off scores of 131, 201 not out, 139 and 119 not out. He finished the season with seven consecutive scores above 50.
DAVID BEDINGHAM
Durham 1,019 runs @ 56.61
Another Durham star who racked up his runs at a decent lick – his strike rate was above 70, too – Bedingham reached fifty six times and turned five of those knocks into centuries, his best of 156 coming against Leicestershire in the final round.
COLIN ACKERMANN
Leicestershire 987 runs @ 49.35
Ackermann fell just short of shy of 1,000 runs as Leicestershire launched an unsuccessful push for promotion. He will bolster Durham’s strong batting ranks next season, having signed a three-year deal.

LEUS DU PLOOY
Derbyshire 1,236 runs @ 82.4
Du Plooy signed off on his time with Derbyshire – he will play at Lord’s from next season – with four hundreds and four half-centuries, his best offering an unbeaten 238 against Worcestershire at New Road.
KIRAN CARLSON
Glamorgan 1,068 runs @ 46.43
Carson thrived with the bat while leading his county, hitting hundreds in his first two matches as a first-class skipper, his 192 against Sussex in May followed by 162 against Durham the following month.
OLLIE ROBINSON
Durham (wk)
931 runs @ 58.18 47 dismissals
Signed from Kent, Robinson had a sparkling first full season at Durham, his strike rate just under 90 as he reeled off three tons, including an unbeaten 167 against Leicestershire.
JOE LEACH
Worcestershire 48 wickets @ 27.43
The tireless Leach played a leading role as his beloved Worcestershire were promoted to Division One, and he was by a distance their leading wicket-taker. He claimed two five-fors along the way, his best figures 6-78 in a drawn match against Sussex at Hove.
CHRIS WRIGHT
Leicestershire 48 wickets @ 27.43
In his last season at Leicestershire, Wright, 38 years of age, played in every game and topped the wickettaking charts for his county.
MATT POTTS
Durham 54 wickets @ 22.22
After a breakout 2022, Potts was limited to appearances against Ireland in both Test match and ODI cricket for England this summer – but his domination of Division Two continued. For the second year in a row, the quick took 50 wickets in the season, spearheading the northerners’ successful push for promotion.
BEN RAINE
Durham 60 wickets @ 24.95
The leading wicket-taker in Division Two, Raine was an ever-present for Durham, his regular contributions rewarded with a first five-wicket haul this season in the final round against Leicestershire.
