Pakistan pacer Shaheen Afridi congratulated Jasprit Bumrah on becoming a father to his newborn baby. Bumrah and his wife Sanjana welcomed a baby boy on September 4, the day India played Nepal in the Asia Cup.
Bumrah had flown back home to be with his wife after India’s previous match against Pakistan which was rained out as well. The pacer joined the team before India’s match against Pakistan in the Super 4.
Unfortunately, the India-Pakistan match on Sunday was called off as well due to continuous rain. Pakistan won the toss and asked India to bat first. Only 24.1 overs of play was possible with India reaching 147/1 after their openers added a 121-run opening stand.
Shadab Khan dismissed Rohit Sharma in the 17th over with Shaheen removing Gill in the very next over. Virat Kohli (8*) and KL Rahul (17*) added an unbeaten 24-run stand before rain played spoilsport. The match was finally called off and it was shifted to the reserve day on Monday (September 11).
Meanwhile, after the match was called off, Shaheen Afridi made a nice gesture towards Jasprit Bumrah as he congratulated him by giving him a nice gift after he became a father. The Indian pacer thanked the Pakistani spearhead as it was a nice moment between the two leading pacers in modern-day cricket.

Chances of rain on Sunday were as high as 90 percent and after a bright sunny start to the game, the rain eventually played spoilsport. The ACC had earlier decided to shift the Super 4 matches to Hambantota from Colombo but then decided to make a U-turn on their decision despite knowing the rain threat as per trusted weather channels.
The play has been finally called off and the match will resume on Monday (September 11) from the point where it ended on Sunday. India will resume from 24.1 overs with a score of 147/2. The rain threat, however, remains as Colombo is set to experience rain potentially every day in the next week leading up to the final on September 17.
