The opening session of Book 2 at the Keeneland September Yearling Sale got underway Sept. 13 with an Into Mischief filly catching the eye of Lee and Susan Searing of CRK Stables. Agent Dottie Ingordo, signing as Mayberry Farm, inked the sales slip at $875,000 for the bay out of Test Stakes (G1) placed Belle of the Hall .
Consigned by Hill’ n’ Dale at Xalapa as Hip 451 for Kentucky breeder Seclusive Farm, the filly is a half sibling to the grade 3 winning son of Candy Ride , Share the Ride .
“She was shown almost 200 times; everybody loved her,” Jared Burdine, general manager for Hill ‘n’ Dale at Xalapa, said. “She was the belle of book 2, a beautiful filly. She did everything right each day.”
The January-born bay will head to the West Coast to join John Sheriff’s stable.
“She’s a big strong looking filly, and we love Into Mischief,” Dottie Ingordo said. “She had a nice pedigree, and when John was here doing inspections, he thought she was a ‘wow’—it was a concurrent thought.”
The price was right in line with what Ingordo appraised: “We rated her at $900,000 to $1 million, so she was right in the scope, and Lee said we had a deal. He had to fly home for a few meetings but plans to return Thursday, and it will be time to have some fun.”
